The basic operating principle of an oil-free screw compressor involves two intermeshing rotors that compress incoming air as it passes through the compression chamber. Unlike oil-injected designs, oil is not used directly inside the compression process for lubrication or sealing. Instead, specially designed air ends, coatings, precision clearances, and external lubrication arrangements allow the rotors to operate effectively. Depending on the design, the compressor may use one or more compression stages to achieve the required pressure efficiently.
